Tuskegee Airmen Trained at the Atterbury Army Air Field during WWII and flew B-25s.

World War II Glider Pilots Trained at the Atterbury Army Air Field during WWII and flew the CG4A Glider towed by C47s.

71st SOS The 71st Tactical Airlift Squadron of the 434th Tactical Airlift Wing from Columbus, Indiana was activated on 13 May 1968 to expedite deployment of the AC-119G Gunships to the Southeast Asia conflict.

WASP The Women Airforce Service Pilots were a vital part of the WWII effort and flew every type of aircraft from trainers, transports, fighters to the largest bombers.

434th This unit saw the longest service at Bakalar Air Force Base from post WWII through the Vietnam War. The 434th Tactical Airlift Wing saw duty in WWII, Korea, Cuban Crisis, Vietnam and Gulf Wars.

Bakalar Green Is the area between the Control Tower and Rotating Beacon Tower which includes the F-4 Phantom, Air Base Historical Markers and Memorial Promenade. It is a place for quiet contemplation.

2466th This unit was the base support unit at the Atterbury Army Air Base United States Air Force Reserve Training Center. C-46's C-47's C-45's and more.
